Chuck Banta - President

Chuck Banta, Jr. is the Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President of the company. Chuck purchased the family business from his father in 1989.

Under Chuck's direction, the company has grown from four million in annual sales to over one hundred million. In addition to growing the company, he has changed the company's focus from retail produce to full line foodservice distribution. Today, Banta Foods is a thriving and prominent regional full line foodservice distributor, with customers ranging from corporate national chains to  local independent restaurateurs.

Chuck grew up in the family business working in different positions while attending school. He graduated from Springfield public schools and went on to attend the University of Missouri at Columbia, MO on a football scholarship. While at MU he received a varsity football letter for three years as well as all conference honors his senior year. In addition, he was elected into the Mystical Seven Honor Society his senior year.

After graduating in 1977 with a bachelors degree, Chuck went to work for the family business in a full time position. He started in sales then worked in purchasing and was promoted to general manager in 1982.

Chuck is married; his wife Beth is self-employed, and they have three children who range in age from college to middle school.

Chuck's business beliefs are centered on the Golden Rule that his father taught him long ago. "To treat others the way you want to be treated."



 
Rick Sweet - Vice President and General Manager

Rick is the Vice President and General Manager of Banta Foods, Inc., and oversees the daily operation of the company.

Rick is a native of Springfield, and a graduate of Southwest Missouri State University with a BS degree in Marketing.  Rick has been employed in the wholesale foodservice distribution business for over 30 years, holding positions including sales representative, director of purchasing and national accounts manager. 

Rick is married; his wife Barbara works as a speech pathologist with the Springfield Public Schools.  Their two daughters, Megan attending the University of Missouri in Columbia and McKenna attending Missouri State University in Springfield.

Rick believes that integrity, honesty and partnership are not just words; they’re the cornerstones of a successful business relationship.



 
Bill Scorse - Chief Information Officer

Bill Scorse is the Chief Information Officer and has been with Banta Foods, Inc. since 1998. Under Bill's direction the information systems have been updated to current industry standards.  Bill has led several major projects including web order entry, Acorn Cost Accounting, our website design, Sales force automation and fleet computerization.

Bill has his Bachelor and MBA degrees in Accounting and is a Certified Public Accountant.  In addition to his accounting education he has certification as a Cisco Certified Network Associate and as a Microsoft Certified System Engineer.

Bill has over 20 years experience in the foodservice industry working in both distribution and manufacturing.  He has worked as a Controller, MIS Manager, Director and as a consultant for The Pillsbury Company, Vandenberg Foods, Conagra and Cargill.

Bill is also active in the community and his church; including past President of the Chanhassen, MN Chamber of Commerce.  Bill is also a member of the Missouri and American Society of CPA'S. 

Bill is married to Becky who is a Senior Vice President for a local banking institution and they have two teenage sons



 
David Toft - Controller

David Toft oversees the accounting and finance functions at Banta Foods, Inc.  He is responsible for the development and implementation of Banta’s accounting and finance policies, insurance, budgeting and financial statement preparation.

David received his BSBA in accounting from the University of Arkansas and also holds his Certified Public Accounting certificate.  He is a member in both the Missouri and American Society of CPA’s.

David has over 20 years of accounting, finance, and business management experience ranging from public accounting to manufacturing and distribution.


 
Wade McCarter - Operations Manager

Wade McCarter oversees our operations and has been a part of the Banta Foods Inc. team since 2001. His responsibilities include managing the warehouse and transportation functions, as well as security and facility maintenance.

Wade has 17 years of distribution experience that he uses to ensure that Banta Foods Inc. exceeds industry Warehousing and Delivery standards as well as providing the high quality of service Banta Foods Inc. has always maintained.


 
Amos Bailey - Financial Analyst

Amos Bailey is the Financial Analyst for Banta Foods, Inc. and has been with the company since January 2004.  Amos was born in New York City and has recently relocated to Springfield from Albuquerque, NM with his wife Melesha and son Tyler.  Amos graduated from Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO with a BA in Business Administration.  He has worked 17 years in the Foodservice industry.  Amos has served as both a Credit Manager and Regional Purchasing Director in retail distribution and as a Credit Analyst and a Specialist in Financial Analysis in wholesale distribution.

Both Amos and his wife Melesha are licensed Treatment Foster Care Parents.  They have served in that capacity for the past two years in New Mexico and Melesha is seeking to continue her career as a foster parent in the state of Missouri.  Amos' entire family is very active in their local church as well as civic activities.

The entire Bailey family adheres to the general rule of life that you should always do the right thing and treat others the way you would be treated.



 
Cheryl Mitchell - Director of Purchasing & Marketing

 

Cheryl Mitchell is the Director of Purchasing/Marketing for Banta Foods.  She oversees the department responsible for all aspects of inventory management, which includes; vendor and item selection, maintaining excellent fill rates, and all activities related to marketing the various inventoried products of Banta Foods.

 

Cheryl is a Springfield native and graduate of Drury University, with Bachelors degrees in Business Administration and Economics.  She has been employed in the foodservice distribution industry for over 26 years, holding positions related to purchasing and marketing management.

 

Cheryl has been married to her husband, Brent, for 28 years.  They have two children, Brad, who is a recent graduate of Southwest Missouri State University, and Jenny, who is a junior at SMSU.

 



 
Bill Lumley - VP of Sales

Bill Lumley is Vice President of Sales at Banta Foods.  He has been with the company since 1989.  He has worked in various positions in the company, including, warehouse loader, truck driver, day warehouse receiver, account manager and district sales manager.  His experience in these roles gives him a thorough understanding of our business.  Bill believes that saving the customer money is only half the battle.  Assisting the customer in achieving their financial goals is what separates us from the competition.  Bill is happily married to Paula, his wife of ten years.  He has two children Ash and Joshua who attend Marshfield Public Schools.  His interests include landscaping and sports cars.
